From design systems to daily workflows.

The frontend challenge

My work at LabourNet involved implementing platform features from Adobe XD and Figma designs and business user stories. The engineering work needed to connect visual designs with functional, responsive interfaces and consistent application behaviour.

I worked with UX/UI and marketing colleagues on platform redesign work while continuing to deliver and support Angular features.

Design implementation and reusable components

I translated designs into Angular interfaces using Angular Material, HTML, CSS and SCSS. My contributions included complex components and responsive layouts, keeping the implementation aligned with the design and the intended workflow.

• Convert user stories and design specifications into working Angular features.
• Implement consistent interface patterns with Angular Material and reusable components.
• Collaborate with UX/UI and marketing teams during redesign work.

Application state with NgRx

I used NgRx to manage application state, supporting consistent behaviour across components and maintainable feature development. This work sat alongside component implementation and the integration of platform workflows.

The emphasis was on connecting state and UI deliberately, so feature changes could be understood and maintained as part of the wider application.

Testing, reviews and production support

I used Jest and Cypress for unit and end-to-end testing, participated in code reviews and worked with Git, Bitbucket and Jenkins as part of delivery.

Production responsibilities included investigating and resolving critical P1 incidents to restore platform functionality. This experience complements feature development with hands-on debugging and operational follow-through.

What this demonstrates

This role combined the core responsibilities of a senior Angular developer: implementing designs, managing state with NgRx, collaborating across disciplines, testing changes and supporting a live platform.
